Why I watched it and what I expected
Okay, so after surviving the emotional rollercoaster of Season 3, I knew I had to dive straight into The Walking Dead Season 4. Like, no way was I leaving Rick and the gang hanging. I expected more walkers, more heartbreak, and maybe — just maybe — a few calm moments where nobody dies horribly. (Spoiler alert: LOL, nope.)
First episode/impression reactions on The Walking Dead Season 4
First episode? It hit different. The prison looked kinda cozy now — like “Pinterest prison edition.” They were farming, raising pigs (shoutout to poor Violet 🐖), and lowkey pretending the world wasn’t crawling with zombies. Honestly, I thought, “Dang, maybe we’re finally gonna catch a break!” … and then the universe said, “Hold my beer.”
Characters I liked (or hated): Who stood out and why
-
Rick: My man went full dad mode, farming and lecturing Carl about being a good boy. Loved it.
-
Carol: Surprise MVP! Secretly teaching kids how to use knives?? Iconic. I stan.
-
The Governor: eye twitches This dude had no chill and somehow made things worse even after disappearing for half the season.
-
Tyreese: Big teddy bear energy, but when he got mad? Run. Run fast.
-
Lizzie: Listen. If you know, you know. 😵💫
Summary like I’m telling a friend
The Walking Dead Season 4 is basically: prison life is great ➡️ new sickness shows up (because why not) ➡️ all hell breaks loose ➡️ separation anxiety maxes out ➡️ surprise betrayals and heartbreaks ➡️ and then a finale that made me yell at my screen.
It’s a lot of survival, a lot of “who can you trust,” and a ton of really intense character moments. Oh, and zombies. Always zombies.
What hit hard / made me think (emotional or unexpected bits)
-
The illness storyline? Hit way too close after living through 2020. (They were sanitizing their hands and everything — real ones know.)
-
Carol’s decision (you know the one) — BRO, I’m still processing.
-
“Look at the flowers.” If you’ve watched it, you’re already crying. No context needed.
Things that bugged me or made me laugh in The Walking Dead Season 4
-
Why does everyone in this show insist on splitting up when literally every bad thing happens when you split up? Like, c’mon.
-
Rick’s beard started its own character arc this season. Respect.
-
Tyreese carrying that damn hammer everywhere… lowkey a mood.
-
Daryl continues to be the ultimate rugged snack 🏹. Just had to say it.
Should someone binge or skip this?
BINGE IT, BUDDY.
The Walking Dead Season 4 is heavy, yes, but it’s also where The Walking Dead starts leaning harder into the “people are scarier than zombies” vibe, and it’s 🔥. There’s character growth, brutal twists, and enough feels to drown in — but in the best way possible.
Grab snacks, maybe a tissue (or a therapy session after), and press play. You’re not ready, but like, in the fun way. 😂
