Marvel’s roster runs from street-level brawlers to reality-bending gods. So who truly sits at the very top? Here is our countdown of the 16 most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, ranked from devastating to downright omnipotent.
16. Vulcan
![]()
Vulcan is the brother of Cyclops and Havok, but unlike them he’s an omega-level mutant. As a result, he can manipulate and even absorb every form of energy, including magic. In fact, he once fought Black Bolt on even terms and took on the X-Men, Inhumans, and Starjammers at the same time before finally being overpowered. He even ruled the Shi’ar Empire as Emperor until he was overthrown. His fate today? Officially dead, though it has never truly been confirmed.
15. Skaar
![]()
Skaar is the Hulk’s son from an alternate reality, and his powers actually exceed his father’s. His strength is staggering. In one blow he cracked the Juggernaut’s armor and punched him into the upper atmosphere, something even the Hulk never managed. On top of that, he has survived the Power Cosmic and falls from outer space. Better still, his healing factor outpaces both Hulk’s and Wolverine’s.
14. Odin

Odin is the monarch of Asgard and the strongest Asgardian of all, even stronger than his son Thor. He wields magic for almost anything, from strength and size augmentation to enchantments, fire, and devastating energy blasts. Better still, as king he can absorb the power of every Asgardian to amplify his own. He is also immortal, so no natural force can kill him. His baseline strength alone sits around 60 tons.
13. Hercules

Hercules is the son of Zeus, which makes him an Olympian god-prince. More importantly, he is widely considered the physically strongest character in all of Marvel, stronger than Thor, the Hulk, and even the Destroyer.
The feats back it up. He once towed the entire island of Manhattan, overpowered Thor, manhandled the Hulk, and held up the literal weight of the heavens. His durability is just as absurd. Blasts from the cosmic being Nova did not faze him, and bullets are beneath his notice.
On top of all that, he survives unaided in space and never tires. He is also virtually immortal, over 3,000 years old yet still in his prime. For protection, he carries an indestructible adamantine mace and the impenetrable hide of the Nemean Lion. Despite their endless rivalry, he remains one of Thor’s closest friends.
12. Grandmaster

The Grandmaster is an Elder of the Universe, the same race as the Runner and the Champion. Naturally, he is ancient, brilliant, and immensely powerful. His mind alone grants telepathy, telekinesis, mind alteration, and mind-wiping.
He is physically gifted too, lifting around 25 tons with superhuman speed and reflexes. Even more striking, he can heal any injury or illness, and he can bring the dead back to life.
Most dangerous of all, he simply cannot be killed, because Death itself has banished him. As his name suggests, though, his real obsession is games, and he has spent millennia playing them.
11. Galactus

Galactus is one of the most powerful beings in the universe, and he literally devours planets to survive. Beyond that cosmic hunger, he commands near-limitless power and vast knowledge. In fact, he is the one who gave the Silver Surfer his abilities, yet he still operates in a completely different league.
10. Magus

The Magus rivals Galactus himself. His signature power is unlimited shape-shifting, so he can become any substance, color, or size, even larger than a sun. Want a planet-sized cannon? He can simply turn into one. On top of that, his telepathy is so advanced that he can learn an entire language in an instant.
9. Mikaboshi

Mikaboshi is an abstract being far stronger than sky-fathers like Odin or Zeus. In fact, he has defeated Zeus, king of the Greek gods, on two separate occasions. His toolkit includes immortality, shape-shifting, superhuman strength, and a wide range of energy projections.
8. Cyttorak

Cyttorak may be the single strongest magical being in Marvel. His power is so vast that he once imprisoned Galactus, who could not break free. He is also the source of the Juggernaut’s might. On top of that, elite sorcerers such as Doctor Strange, Dormammu, and Zom invoke his name to fuel their spells. Inside his own dimension, his power is simply limitless.
7. Phoenix Force

The Phoenix Force is the most feared entity in the universe. It single-handedly defeated Galactus, and it even overpowered the M’Kraan Crystal. Few forces in all of Marvel come close.
6. Franklin Richards
![]()
Franklin Richards is one of the rarest omega-level mutants, with the power to warp reality on a scale far beyond Proteus. As a child, he could never fully control his immeasurable abilities. Even so, his potential is said to rival the Celestials. Quite possibly, he is the strongest mutant who will ever exist.
5. Eternity
![]()
Eternity is the embodiment of time itself. As such, he can bend space, time, and reality to his will. His power dwarfs even Galactus.
4. Living Tribunal
![]()
The Living Tribunal is the second-strongest being in Marvel, behind only the One-Above-All. He is so feared that Thanos, even while wielding the Infinity Gauntlet, refused to fight him. As the supreme authority of the multiverse, his power is effectively limitless.
3. Beyonder

The Beyonder is a near-omnipotent being and, for a time, the most powerful in the entire multiverse, second only to the One-Above-All. At his peak, he left the Marvel abstracts such as Eternity, Infinity, and Death completely at his mercy. Cosmic giants like Galactus and even the Living Tribunal fared no better.
2. One-Above-All
![]()
The One-Above-All is the most powerful being in the Marvel multiverse, surpassing even the Living Tribunal and the Beyonder. He is believed to represent Marvel’s real creators, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In fact, he has appeared in Kirby’s form to make the point. Simply put, he is the grand authority of everything.
1. Deadpool
![]()
So why does Deadpool top a list of cosmic gods? Blame the storyline Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe.
In it, the X-Men send him to a mental hospital, where his therapist turns out to be Psycho-Man in disguise. The brainwashing backfires and leaves Deadpool more unhinged than ever. As a result, he kills Psycho-Man, then methodically murders every hero and villain on this very list.
But he does not stop there. He breaks into the real world to confront the writers and artists creating his story. Then he turns to the reader with a chilling promise: once he is done with this universe, he will come looking for you.
Agree with the ranking? Marvel’s power scaling is endlessly debatable, so drop your own number one in the comments.
