Why I Watched It and What I Expected
Okay, so here’s the thing — when I heard Daredevil was back with Born Again, my brain just screamed, “TAKE MY EYEBALLS, MARVEL!”
The OG Netflix series was dark, gritty, and basically a black belt in storytelling. I expected more street fights, more Matt Murdock existential crises, and honestly… maybe a little less getting punched in the face? (Spoiler: I was wrong.)
Initial Thoughts: First Episode/Impression Reactions
First 5 minutes in and BAM — I’m already emotionally bruised. 😵
They didn’t waste any time either. No slow “catch up with Matt’s feelings” montage. Nope. Straight into the pain, the chaos, the Catholic guilt at 3000%.
Also, the vibe is a little different from the Netflix version — a bit shinier, but still has that raw, punch-you-in-the-soul energy. Good combo.
Characters I Liked (or Hated): Who Stood Out and Why
-
Matt Murdock/Daredevil: My guy is still the king of “I’m fine” while bleeding internally and externally. 10/10 would let him ruin my emotional stability again.
-
Wilson Fisk: Bro, how does he manage to be EVEN MORE TERRIFYING? Man just breathes and it’s threatening. 🥶
-
Foggy & Karen: Missed these two ride-or-die homies. Their tiny scenes = my entire emotional support system.
-
New Faces: I won’t spoil names, but there’s one new villain who makes Fisk look like a grumpy uncle.
(Also, Matt, buddy, you seriously need better friend filters.)
Plot Overview (Spoiler-Free)
Without giving away too much: Matt’s basically trying to rebuild himself after everything went sideways.
The city is worse (shocker), Fisk’s influence is sneakier, and Matt’s struggling with faith, anger, and the usual “should I beat people up at night” dilemma.
It’s like watching someone stitch their heart back together… with barbed wire. 🔥
What Hit Hard / Made Me Think (Emotional or Unexpected Bits)
The theme of starting over when you’re broken?
CHEF’S KISS. 🍷
It hit way too close to home. Not all comebacks are pretty, and sometimes you rebuild ugly and messy and half-crazy — and that’s okay.
(Matt Murdock accidentally doubling as a motivational speaker was NOT on my 2025 bingo card, but here we are.)
Random Thoughts and Mini-Rants
-
Foggy is still the only one with common sense.
-
Matt, I beg you: THERAPY. JUST. ONCE.
-
Marvel, please stop giving me emotional whiplash. I’m tired, bestie.
-
Some of the courtroom scenes low-key made me wanna object just for drama. 🧑⚖️
Also… not enough shirtless boxing montages. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. 🥊👀
Final Verdict: Should Someone Binge or Skip This?
BINGE IT.
Like, full send. Don’t stop until your eyes are dry and your soul feels slightly rearranged.
Daredevil: Born Again delivers pain, heart, and a touch of hope — all while reminding us that even the most broken people can rise again (preferably with cool rooftop flips).
And in true lazybatman.com spirit: Go forth, binge wildly, and maybe punch a metaphorical wall or two. BELIEVE IT. 🦇🔥
