Why I watched it and what I expected
Alright, listen. After the emotional beatdown that was Season 4, I had to keep going. I mean, it’s like watching a train wreck — you can’t look away, even if it’s wrecking your soul.
I figured Season 5 would give me some hope, maybe a little “we found a safe place, built a community, planted some tomatoes” kinda vibe.
Hahahaha. Foolish of me.
First episode/impression reactions to The Walking Dead Season 5
First ep?? Absolutely savage. Terminus was NOT the cozy commune the graffiti promised — unless your idea of cozy is human BBQs. 🤢
I went from “huh, maybe they can reason with them” to “RUN FOR YOUR LIVES” in about two minutes.
Also, Rick’s feral energy? Loved that for him. 10/10 would follow into battle.
Characters I liked (or hated): Who stood out and why

Rick: Fully upgraded to Rick 3.0 — scruffy, slightly unhinged, and tactical. King.

Carol: MVP of the season. That woman single-handedly blew up Terminus and served fashion while doing it. Literal superhero.

Tyreese: Soft king, but sometimes too soft for this savage world. Hug him, please.

Gareth (Terminus dude): Sir, seek therapy instead of eating people challenge 💀.

Father Gabriel: Sketchy at first, grew on me later. Still sus though.
Summary like I’m telling a friend
Imagine you’re trying to find a safe place. You finally do… only to realize it’s filled with lowkey psychopaths. You survive that, you move on, find another place… and guess what? New psychos! 😭
Season 5 is basically the ultimate trust fall — but instead of falling into loving arms, you land on a pile of betrayal, death, and existential dread.
BUT it’s also the season where the gang finds Alexandria, and we get some much-needed normalcy. Kind of. For like 10 minutes. 😂
What hit hard / made me think (emotional or unexpected bits)

The Bob scene. If you know, you know. (Just let the man eat his leg in peace??)

Beth’s arc: I was NOT emotionally prepared. I needed an emotional support dog after that hospital storyline.

Rick’s speech to Alexandria folks? Absolute chills. The way he basically said “y’all are soft and you will die” but with dead eyes? Poetry.
Things that bugged me or made me laugh in The Walking Dead Season 5

Carol pretending to be all suburban housewife while hiding her “I will end you” energy was ICONIC.

Why do people still get surprised when someone turns into a walker after dying? Y’all… it’s SEASON 5. C’mon now.

Should someone binge or skip The Walking Dead Season 5?
YOU BETTER BINGE IT, BESTIE.
Season 5 is brutal but brilliant. It’s where survival mode gets turned up to 100, and characters really start walking the line between good, bad, and “we do what we have to.”
Also, peak Carol content. You don’t want to miss that.
Just keep some comfort snacks nearby and a therapist on speed dial. You’ll need it.
