The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is where the series finally grows some teeth. A vengeful vampire is building an army, the wolves and the Cullens are forced to team up, and Bella has to choose – once and for all – between Edward and Jacob.
An Army in Seattle
A wave of brutal killings in nearby Seattle is not random: Victoria is secretly creating an army of “newborn” vampires – fresh, feral, and superhumanly strong – to overwhelm the Cullens and finally kill Bella in revenge for James.
The Choice
As the threat grows, so does the love triangle. Jacob makes his feelings impossible to ignore, and Bella admits she loves him too – just not as much as she loves Edward. Edward proposes, and Bella says yes, agreeing to marry him and be turned after graduation.
Enemies Become Allies
Outnumbered, the Cullens and the Quileute wolf pack strike an uneasy truce and train together, with Jasper – a veteran of the old newborn wars – teaching them how to fight. On the night of the battle, Edward and Jacob shelter Bella on a freezing mountaintop while the others meet the army below.
The Eclipse Ending, Explained (Spoilers)

The Cullens and wolves tear through the newborn army, but Victoria tracks Bella to the mountain. Edward, with help from the young wolf Seth, fights and finally destroys Victoria and her second, Riley – ending the revenge arc that has driven three films. Moments later the Volturi arrive to “clean up,” coldly executing the last surrendering newborn, Bree.
With the danger gone, Bella fully commits. She chooses Edward, keeps his ring on, and reaffirms that she wants to be turned. She says a painful goodbye to Jacob, who runs off heartbroken after learning about the engagement, and resolves to tell Charlie the truth about her future.
The Verdict
Eclipse balances romance and real conflict better than either film before it – the newborn army gives the saga an actual threat, and the love triangle reaches its emotional breaking point. Many fans call it the best of the five. 🔥
