Pritam and Pedro is one of those small shows that sneaks up on you. I went in expecting just another crime-comedy, and by episode two I realized this cozy little JioHotstar series had genuinely won me over. Honestly, it felt so good to watch a Hindi show like this after a long time – bahut dino baad aisa maza aaya.
What’s the Story?
Set in Goa, the show follows Inspector Pedro (Arshad Warsi), an old-school cop who gets a punishment posting to the cyber crime division after upsetting a local minister – a job he wants absolutely nothing to do with. There he crosses paths with Pritam (Vir Hirani), who looks like a simple vacuum cleaner salesman but is secretly a genuine cyber genius. Majboori mein bani hui yeh jodi ends up cracking a whole web of cases together – from an ATM heist to a gut-wrenching kidnapping case that traces back to a dark, sociopathic hacker named Martin (Vikrant Massey).
Arshad Warsi Steals the Show, Again
Arshad Warsi is the heart of this series. The old-school cop energy, a little cynical, a little funny, and completely believable – his comic timing is exactly what we’ve loved since the Munna Bhai days, and yahan bhi wo bina zyada mehnat kiye scene chura lete hain.
Vir Hirani’s Debut – How Was It?
This marks Rajkumar Hirani’s son Vir Hirani’s acting debut, and honestly, it was better than I expected. Pritam’s mild-mannered, slightly awkward energy pairs really well with Pedro’s loud, straightforward style. Unki chemistry hi is show ko aage badhati hai.
Rajkumar Hirani’s OTT Debut – A Mixed Bag?
This is Hirani’s first long-form OTT project, and his signature emotional touch is clearly visible throughout. Some critics felt the show tries to juggle too many topics at once – kidnapping, the Blue Whale challenge, deepfakes, extramarital affairs – all packed into just 6 episodes. Sach kahoon toh, kabhi kabhi thoda zyada lagta hai, but the overall packaging is warm enough that it still works.
My Personal Take
The best part for me was simply getting to watch a Hindi series like this after a long time – something that’s family-friendly but still has a bit of a thrilling edge. Watching this kind of homegrown, Goa-based buddy-cop content on JioHotstar genuinely felt nice – not too dark, not too preachy, just a comfortable watch that keeps you hooked till the end.
The Verdict on Pritam and Pedro
It’s not perfect, and it’s definitely not a mind-bending thriller – but Pritam and Pedro wins you over with its warm buddy-cop energy and Arshad Warsi’s charm. If you enjoy light crime-comedy with some heart in it, yeh ek weekend binge ke liye bilkul sahi hai. 🔥
