Dune Part Three Memes: 10 Funniest X Posts About the Runtime, Robert Pattinson and More

Dune: Part Three is still six weeks away, and X has already turned it into a meme factory. Three things set it off this week. AMC listed the runtime at 2 hours 30 minutes, making it the shortest film in Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy. The cast posed for a new photoshoot with The New York Times. And fans learned that the Part One and Part Two re-releases come with the first seven minutes of Part Three.

The result is some of the funniest Dune content since the sandworm popcorn bucket. We went through X and picked the 10 funniest Dune Part Three memes from the past few days. Nine of them have more than 2,000 likes. The first has fewer, but it started a 245-reply argument, so it earns the top spot.

1. “What we deserved vs what we got”

Paul Atreides, recast. This fan’s “what we deserved vs what we got” meme puts an edit of Tom Holland in Paul’s desert gear next to Timothée Chalamet’s actual Paul, with a deadpan caption claiming the casting let everyone down. It’s pure bait, and it worked: the post pulled in 245 replies, which is a lot of people with strong opinions about who should play Paul. After two films and a third on the way, Chalamet owns the role, which is exactly why the joke lands.

2. Robert Pattinson didn’t get the memo

It started with a fan account posting the Dune cast’s group photos from 2021, 2024 and the new 2026 shoot side by side. Everyone looks sharper with every movie. Then the replies spotted Robert Pattinson, the trilogy’s newest face, who seems to have turned up to the 2026 shoot on his own wavelength. In internet slang, “mogging” means out-glowing everyone around you. Apparently Rob missed the group chat.

3. “Wtf Denis”: the runtime meltdown

Wtf Denis meme on X reacting to the Dune Part Three runtime of 2 hours 30 minutes

Fans expected the trilogy’s finale to be its biggest movie. Instead, AMC’s listing puts Dune: Part Three at 2 hours 30 minutes. That’s shorter than Part One (2 hours 35 minutes) and Part Two (2 hours 46 minutes). This reply paired the news with a reaction clip that perfectly captures the betrayal, and the short caption did the rest.

4. Frank Herbert was a prophet

Viral X post quoting Frank Herbert's Dune line about thinking machines

This is the most-liked Dune post on X this week, and it doesn’t even need a picture. A fan rereading Dune shared Frank Herbert’s famous line about people who handed their thinking over to machines and ended up enslaved by whoever owned the machines. Their only addition was a dry note that Herbert was a prophet. With AI everywhere in 2026, the internet agreed.

5. “The first 7 minutes of Dune Part Three”

When word got out that the Part One and Part Two re-releases include 11 minutes of special footage, including the first seven minutes of Part Three, this fan skipped the theatre trip and posted their own version: one brooding Fremen GIF. For a director who loves long, silent, gorgeous shots, it’s honestly not a bad guess.

6. “Posta no TikTok logo”

The Brazilian fandom showed up too. This reply to the runtime news is Portuguese for “just post it on TikTok then”. If 2 hours 30 minutes counts as short for Dune, why not drop the whole thing on your For You page?

7. Dune (1984) vs Dune (2021): who did it better?

The classic “who did it better” format is back. This clip puts the spice harvester scene from David Lynch’s 1984 Dune next to the same moment in Villeneuve’s 2021 film. Over a hundred replies later, the comments section is still arguing over practical charm versus modern scale.

8. RIP the funniest villain in the franchise

Austin Butler’s Feyd-Rautha won’t be back for Part Three after Part Two’s finale, and some fans are only now realising what we lost. This nine-second Feyd clip is the reminder. The fan’s verdict: sad he’s dead, because he was hilarious.

9. Timothée’s The King haircut era

With the trilogy wrapping up, fans dug out a throwback late-night interview of Timothée Chalamet talking about Dune for the first time. The poster couldn’t get past the hair: Timmy was still rocking the bowl cut from his 2019 film The King.

10. When the director and the star speak French on set

Villeneuve is French-Canadian, and Chalamet grew up speaking French, so of course they chat in French between takes. This behind-the-scenes clip of the two of them talking on set is the internet’s favourite wholesome Dune moment of the week.
