The Demon Slayer Infinity Castle trilogy is ufotable’s three-film adaptation of the manga’s Infinity Castle arc, the start of the story’s final battle. Part 1 came out in 2025, broke box office records around the world and is now streaming. Infinity Castle Part 2 and Part 3 have no official release dates yet. Here is everything that is confirmed, what is only a placeholder, and when real news is most likely to land.
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle release dates at a glance
- Part 1: July 18, 2025 in Japan, September 12, 2025 in the US and most other countries, and November 14, 2025 in China.
- Part 2: no official date or year. A September 2027 placeholder exists, but nobody has confirmed it.
- Part 3: no official date or year.
Infinity Castle Part 2 release date: what we actually know
As of early October 2026, neither ufotable, Aniplex nor Crunchyroll has announced a date for Infinity Castle Part 2.
The film tracking site The Numbers lists an untitled Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures release for September 2027, and fans widely assume it is Part 2, since the same partners released Part 1 outside Japan. It is a placeholder, not an announcement. If it does turn out to be Part 2, Japan would likely get the film first, as it did with Part 1, which opened there almost two months before the US.
The most likely moment for real news is December 19, 2026. Demon Slayer has a stage at Jump Festa 2027, Shueisha’s annual Jump event, which runs on December 19 and 20. A stage like that is the natural place to reveal a release window or a first teaser.
Part 1: the record-breaking first film
Haruo Sotozaki directed the 155-minute first film at ufotable. In Japan it carries the subtitle Akaza Sairai, or Akaza Returns. Aniplex and Toho released it at home, while Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures handled most of the rest of the world.
It covers three fights inside the castle: Shinobu against Doma, Zenitsu against Kaigaku, and Tanjiro and Giyu against Akaza, ending with Akaza’s past. Our Infinity Castle Part 1 breakdown goes through the film itself.
The numbers:
- US opening: $70 million, the biggest US opening weekend ever for an anime film.
- Worldwide: about $800 million, the most ever for a Japanese film, and the first Japanese film to pass ¥100 billion worldwide.
- Japan: more than ¥40 billion, the second-biggest film in Japanese history, behind only Demon Slayer’s own Mugen Train.
Where to watch Infinity Castle Part 1
- Crunchyroll: streaming since July 28, 2026 across most of the world, in Japanese with subtitles or with an English dub.
- Netflix: available across most of Asia since July 28, 2026 (not Japan, mainland China or India), and in the US since September 28, 2026.
- India: Crunchyroll is the place to watch, because Netflix’s Asian release left India out.
- Japan: the Blu-ray and DVD went on sale on July 29, 2026.
- Buy or rent: digital stores have carried it since July 2026.
What Infinity Castle Part 2 and Part 3 will cover
If the films keep following Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga, Part 2 picks up the battles still raging inside the castle, including the fight against Kokushibo, Upper Rank One, before the story turns to Muzan himself.
How much of the manga’s last stretch Part 3 will cover has not been announced. That stretch is the Sunrise Countdown, the 22 chapters that end the series, and it is still unclear whether the trilogy adapts all of it.
How the trilogy was announced
The trilogy was announced in June 2024, straight after the Hashira Training finale ended Season 4. In December 2024, a teaser visual and a special stream dated the first film for 2025. In the stream, cosplayers dressed as Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke stayed silent for about 15 minutes before the reveal.
The road to the Infinity Castle
Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020 and was collected in 23 volumes, published in English by Viz Media. The Infinity Castle arc is the longest in the manga, and together with the Sunrise Countdown it forms the final battle that closes the story.
The anime, all animated by ufotable, has adapted it in order:
- Season 1 (April to September 2019): 26 episodes.
- Mugen Train (October 2020): the film that became the highest-grossing film in Japanese history, a record it still holds.
- Season 2 (October 2021 to February 2022): 18 episodes, a re-edited Mugen Train plus the Entertainment District arc.
- Season 3 (April to June 2023): 11 episodes, the Swordsmith Village arc.
- Season 4 (May to June 2024): the Hashira Training arc, which leads straight into the castle.
