GTA 6 Trailer 3 Breakdown: The Launch Trailer, Explained

GTA 6 trailer 3 finally arrived on Thursday, October 15, 2026, five weeks before launch, and Rockstar did not call it Trailer 3 at all. It is the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer: about a minute and a half of new footage, built around Jason’s past and his relationship with Lucia. I loved it. Here is everything it shows, what it tells us about the story, and the song everyone is now looking up.

What GTA 6 trailer 3 shows

  • Jason’s backstory. The trailer opens on Jason. He served in the army and did not leave on good terms, and he struggles to find work or get a loan.
  • A call from Lucia. Jason takes a call from Lucia, and several outlets read it as her calling from jail. Eurogamer also spotted what looks like an ankle tag on her leg, which would fit a parole storyline.
  • Heists and chases. There are several heists in progress, including one that appears to end in a helicopter getaway gone wrong, plus police chases, motorcycle stunts and gunfights.
  • The plane jump. Lucia leaps from a speeding car onto a moving plane, the biggest stunt in the trailer.
  • Jason and Lucia together. The relationship is the centre of the trailer, from a steamy bathroom scene to the two of them promising to get through whatever comes next.
  • The ending. Jason and Lucia jump off a balcony together, hand in hand.

Rockstar’s own description sets up the story: Jason and Lucia “have always known the deck is stacked against them”, and an easy score going wrong drags them into a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida.

The balcony ending

For me, the best moment is the balcony ending. The trailer has bigger set pieces, the plane jump most of all, but it chooses to close on the two of them going over the edge together.

It is also the clearest statement of what GTA 6 is about. Earlier games put a lone criminal at the centre, or three separate ones in GTA V. This one is sold as a story about two people who only survive if they rely on each other, and the last shot puts that in a single image. It also leaves the obvious question open: is that jump an escape, or the end of the line?

Jason’s story

This trailer fills in more of Jason than we have seen before: an army past that ended badly, no money, no prospects, and then a phone call from Lucia. If the jail and ankle-tag readings are right, both of them start the game with very little to lose, which explains why one bad score is enough to pull them in.

The song: “Flower in a Hurricane”

The track is “Flower in a Hurricane” by Justice, featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It is a change of approach: the first two trailers used licensed songs, while this one debuts a new track from Justice, who Rockstar confirmed are composing the game’s original score.

Watch the spelling if you are searching for it: Rockstar’s page says “Flower”, singular, though some early reports wrote “Flowers”.

What it means for the map

The trailer does not tour Leonida, but it lines up with what Rockstar has confirmed. The state has six named regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga National Park. In the Game Informer cover story, Rockstar’s Aaron Garbut called the map roughly twice the size of GTA V’s. There is still no official figure in square miles, so treat any you see as a fan estimate. Our full map breakdown lands closer to launch.

GTA 6 release date and platforms

GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with no PC version announced. Rockstar says the trailer footage was captured on a standard PS5, not a PS5 Pro. Pricing and the difference between the editions are in our GTA 6 editions guide, and the full timeline is in our GTA 6 release date post.

I am playing on day one, on PS5.

Our take

GTA 6 trailer 3 does not try to sell the scale any more. The August Extended Look already did that. So Rockstar spends its last trailer on two people, and for all the explosions along the way, it ends on an image instead of a gunfight.

I loved it, and the balcony ending is my favourite moment.
