God of War Laufey Pre-Order Guide: Editions, Bonuses and the Collector Box

God of War Laufey pre-orders opened on September 29, 2026, and the choice is simpler than it looks. There are two editions of the game: a $69.99 Standard and a $79.99 Digital Deluxe. There is also a $149.99 Collector Box that does not include the game at all. Here is what each one gets you, which pre-order bonus comes with all of them, and which one we would actually buy.

God of War Laufey pre-order prices at a glance

• Standard Edition, $69.99. The full game, on disc or as a download.
• Digital Deluxe Edition, $79.99. The full game plus the Dark Alchemy gear, a resource pack, a digital mini artbook and the soundtrack. Digital only.
• Digital Deluxe Upgrade, $10. The PlayStation Store sells the Deluxe extras on their own to Standard Edition owners.
• Collector Box, $149.99 (£129.99, €149.99). A statue, a card deck and an artbook. No game. Sold only by PlayStation Direct.

The pre-order bonus every edition gets

Sony says pre-ordering any edition before launch unlocks three things:

• the Last Wish Armor Set
• the Phranque’s Golden Leaves appearance, a cosmetic
• an in-game resource pack

Two details are worth knowing. The armor and the appearance unlock as you progress through the story, so you will not start the game fully kitted out. And if you buy the disc, the bonus comes as a download code, which means you need an internet connection and a PlayStation account to claim it.

What the Digital Deluxe Edition adds

The extra $10 buys:

• the Dark Alchemy Armor Set
• the Dark Alchemy Blade
• the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales
• the Dark Alchemy Catalyst
• a second in-game resource pack
• a digital mini artbook
• the official God of War Laufey digital soundtrack

None of it is story content. Like the pre-order armor, the Dark Alchemy pieces unlock through story progression, so they are an early boost rather than a different game.

The $149.99 Collector Box does not include the game

Pre-orders for the Collector Box opened on October 13, 2026. It ships on launch day in what Sony calls “highly limited quantities”, and it is sold only by PlayStation Direct. In the US that means direct.playstation.com. In the UK and much of the EU it is the hardware section of the PlayStation Store.

Inside the box:

• A light-up Faye statue. It stands eight inches tall and shows Faye, Phranque and Rue together. Phranque lights up when the statue is plugged into USB power.
• A 51-card oracle deck with custom illustrations by artist Megan Lara.
• A physical mini artbook of concept art.

There is no disc, no download code and no steelbook. You still need to buy the game separately, so having everything costs $229.98: the box plus the Digital Deluxe Edition. Rockstar did the same with GTA 6, whose $399.99 Collector’s Box also ships without the game (our GTA 6 editions guide covers it), and it is clearly becoming the norm for big releases.

Disc or digital?

Only the Standard Edition comes on disc. The Deluxe extras are digital only, either as part of the $79.99 edition or as the $10 upgrade.

The disc matters more than usual this time. In July, Sony said it will stop producing discs for new PlayStation games in January 2028. That makes God of War Laufey one of the last big first-party PlayStation games you can own on a shelf. A disc can also be resold or lent to a friend, and a download cannot.

Our take

I have pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition myself. But if a friend asked me which to get, I would tell them to get the disc. With Sony ending disc production for new games, this is one of the last chances to have a God of War on the shelf.

The Collector Box does not bother me the way it bothers some people. It is a statue, a card deck and an artbook, and it is priced like collectibles, not like a game. If you collect, it is fine. If you only care about playing, skip it, because it adds nothing on screen.

For everyone else, the real decision is $69.99 or $79.99. The Deluxe gear is a nice extra and not essential. Whichever edition you choose, pre-order before February 16 if you want the Last Wish armor.
