Is God of War Laufey Coming to PC? What Sony Has Actually Said

Short answer: no. God of War Laufey is a PlayStation 5 console exclusive, with no PC version announced – not at launch, and not on any stated timeline afterwards.

For a lot of people that is a genuinely annoying sentence, because the last two God of War games both made the jump. Here is what is actually going on.

What Sony has confirmed

PS5 is the only platform attached to the game. There has been no mention of PC, no mention of PS4 backward support, and no “coming later to other platforms” asterisk of the kind Sony has attached to plenty of recent releases.

The game launches February 16, 2027, and it ships on a physical disc.

Why this is a reversal

PC players have had a good few years with this series. God of War (2018) came to PC in January 2022 and was a substantial success. God of War Ragnarök followed. The pattern felt established: PlayStation first, PC eventually.

Laufey breaks it. The reporting points to a deliberate shift in Sony’s approach to its single-player first-party output, moving those games back toward genuine console exclusivity rather than treating PC as a guaranteed second window.

Whether that is a permanent policy or a decision specific to this release is the part nobody outside Sony can answer yet.

Could it still happen later?

Nothing has been ruled out in writing, and “no PC port announced” is not the same as “no PC port ever.”

But it is worth being straight about the evidence. Sony has had every opportunity to leave the door visibly open on this one and has not done it. There is no teased window, no vague statement about reaching more players, nothing. If a PC version happens, at this point it would be a reversal of the current position rather than a continuation of it.

Treat any confident “it’ll come to PC in a year” take you see as a guess, because that is what it is.

The genuinely irritating part

The two games that give Laufey its entire emotional foundation are both on PC.

So a PC player can play God of War (2018), watch Kratos burn his wife, play Ragnarök, learn who Faye was and what she engineered from beyond the grave – and then be locked out of the game where she is finally the protagonist.

That is not a small gap. It is the payoff to eight years of setup, sitting behind a console purchase.

What are the options?

  • Buy a PS5 – the only guaranteed route, and the game has a disc release if you want a physical copy
  • Wait it out – viable, but with no announced port you could be waiting indefinitely
  • Cloud streaming – Sony has not detailed any plans for this game specifically

Catching up in the meantime

Both Norse games remain on PC, PS5 and PS4, and both are worth replaying before February. Our complete God of War breakdown and Ragnarök ending explained cover the story either way.
