D23 2026: Everything Marvel and Disney Announced

D23 2026 ran Friday night in Anaheim, and the headline is the one Marvel has been sitting on for seven years: the X-Men cast is finally real. Here is everything Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm, Pixar and 20th Century showed at the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, sorted by studio.

The biggest announcements from D23 2026

• The X-Men cast – seven actors, a director and a May 5, 2028 date. The headline, and it was not close.
• Adam Driver as Mister Sinister – the genuine surprise, delivered by video under an alias.
• Ahsoka season 2 on January 20, 2027 – the best release date news, because it was the one nobody was sure would get a date at all.
• Christopher Abbott as Professor X – the one that will divide people. A 40 year old Xavier is a real swing.

Marvel Studios

The X-Men cast led the segment. Sadie Sink plays Jean Grey, Kit Connor is Cyclops, Christopher Abbott is Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving is Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette is Rogue and Maya Boyd is Storm. Adam Driver appeared by video as Nathaniel Milbury, which is one of Mister Sinister’s comic aliases. Jake Schreier directs, the film is still untitled, and it opens May 5, 2028. VisionQuest got its first trailer and a premiere date of October 14, 2026 on Disney+. Eight episodes, Paul Bettany back as White Vision, and James Spader returning as Ultron. Feige framed it as closing the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along.

Avengers: Doomsday brought out Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell, plus a video message from Hugh Jackman. Be clear about the footage, because plenty of coverage is not: the trailer shown was the same cut that debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, not new material. If you saw it in July, you have seen it. The show floor did carry new physical reveals, including a second Doctor Doom suit and costume displays for Nightcrawler and Mystique. The film is still dated December 18, 2026.

Marvel’s Wolverine closed the Marvel run with a new story trailer. Insomniac’s PS5 game arrives September 15, 2026.

Lucasfilm and Star Wars

Ahsoka season 2 premieres January 20, 2027, with a first look trailer shown. Rosario Dawson, Eman Esfandi and Hayden Christensen return, the fight against Grand Admiral Thrawn continues, and Anakin has an expanded role this time.

Star Wars: Starfighter takes the May 28, 2027 slot, arriving alongside the franchise’s 50th anniversary year. Shawn Levy directs. Ryan Gosling plays Kade Auberon, joined by Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Amy Adams, Aaron Pierre and Flynn Gray. It is set roughly five years after The Rise of Skywalker, in a period the films have not touched. Levy showed a first look and described the core of it as hope, family and adventure.

Pixar and Walt Disney Animation

Pixar dated four films, which is the most aggressive the studio has been in years.

• Gatto, March 5, 2027. Mark Ruffalo voices Nero, a black cat working for the mob in Venice. It blends hand painted 2D with computer animation and looks unlike anything Pixar has released.
• Ghost Market, spring 2028. Pixar’s first supernatural film. A teaser played.
• The Incredibles III, June 18, 2028. Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack lead this one, with Bob struggling with his relevance.
• Coco 2, November 2029. Benjamin Bratt returns as Ernesto de la Cruz, out for revenge, with Miguel now a teenager.

Walt Disney Animation matched it:

• Hexed, November 25, 2026. Hailee Steinfeld, Jodie Foster and Walton Goggins. The Thanksgiving release.
• Frozen 3, November 24, 2027. An exclusive scene showed Anna marrying Kristoff, then Elsa finding a stone that opens a portal to another dimension.
• Clay, November 22, 2028. Kieran Culkin voices Flip, a reluctant and fairly terrible mentor.
• Zootopia 3 was announced with Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan returning, but no date.

Live action, 20th Century and everything else

• Tangled live action, March 31, 2028. Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel, Michael Gracey directing. Footage came from the Spain shoot.
• Lilo & Stitch 2, May 26, 2028, with Angel confirmed.
• The next Simpsons movie, September 3, 2027. A sequence played of Homer chasing a foul ball across Springfield.
• Ice Age: Boiling Point, February 5, 2027, marking the franchise’s twentieth anniversary.
• The Bluey Movie, August 6, 2027, with a new teaser.
• Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 3 lands November 20, 2026, adapting The Titan’s Curse.
• Oswald, February 2027. Jon Favreau’s three part hybrid of live action and hand drawn 2D animation.
• Princess Diaries 3 is confirmed with Anne Hathaway, but has no title or date.
• Romy and Michele 2 brings back Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino.
• Kingdom Hearts is becoming an anime series for Disney+.

What did not show up

This is the useful section, and at D23 2026 the absences were specific.

No new Doomsday footage. The trailer was the Comic-Con cut. Four months from release, Marvel is holding.

No Wolverine and no Magneto in the X-Men cast. Six mutants and one villain is a thin roster for this franchise, and the two most commercially valuable characters in it were not named. Feige promising more casting is an acknowledgement, not an answer.

No title for the X-Men film, two years out.

No release date for Zootopia 3, despite a sequel to a billion dollar film being announced on stage.

What it means for the December slate

Nothing at D23 2026 changed the shape of the next four months. Avengers: Doomsday still opens December 18, 2026, still runs 165 minutes, and Marvel still has not published a full cast list or confirmed a single plot point beyond Doom’s arrival.

What did change is the shape of everything after it. Disney now has dated films stretching to 2029, and the X-Men reboot is positioned to open the next phase rather than close this one. For a company that spent two years looking like it was improvising, D23 2026 was a calendar, and calendars are what confidence looks like.
