Marvel at SDCC 2026: Every Hall H Reveal – Doomsday Footage, Ghost Rider & Endgame’s Return

Marvel’s SDCC 2026 Hall H panel just wrapped, and the studio came back from its year away swinging: new Avengers: Doomsday footage where Doom catches Stormbreaker out of the air, an Endgame re-release hiding exclusive new scenes, Ryan Gosling riding into the MCU as Ghost Rider, and a Deadpool stage invasion. We followed the liveblogs so you don’t have to scroll through forty tweets – here’s every reveal, every casting drop, and an honest scorecard of which of our theories survived the night.

The headlines in 30 seconds

• New Doomsday footage: Doom catches Stormbreaker mid-flight and tells Thor “Hell answers to me” – then commands an army of Sentinels in the final sequence.
• Avengers: Endgame Encore hits theaters September 25 with exclusive new Doomsday footage stitched in. The re-release is the trailer.
• Ghost Rider (2028): Ryan Gosling, directed by Shawn Levy. Yes, really.
• Black Panther 3: Ryan Coogler returns, December 15, 2028, with Letitia Wright and Winston Duke on stage.

Avengers: Doomsday – what Marvel showed Hall H

The footage leaned into Doom as a person before Doom as a threat. Sue Storm describes a Victor who “used to be kind” before he lost everything; Reed confronts him with a pointed “Did you do this?” Then the gloves come off: Thor promises Doom will beg for hell, and Doom – catching Stormbreaker out of the air like a frisbee – answers, “Hell answers to me.” We wrote a whole deep-dive on how Doom neutralizes Stormbreaker, and this footage doubles down on the power gap.

The sequence fans will not shut up about: Doom commanding the Sentinels from X-Men: Days of Future Past, leading into a massive hero battle featuring Magneto, Cyclops, Gambit, Steve Rogers, Shang-Chi, Thor, Reed, and Shuri. The wrecked Sentinels behind Thor in the trailer suddenly make a lot more sense: they may be Doom’s own weapons.

One release-strategy twist: none of this footage is coming to YouTube. Feige confirmed the exclusive material rides inside Avengers: Endgame Encore (September 25) – Marvel is making you buy a ticket to see the next tease.

Casting reveals and stage moments

The walk-on delivered: Kevin Feige, the Russo brothers, Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell together (Peggy Carter is officially part of this story), Jon Bernthal, Ryan Coogler with Letitia Wright, Winston Duke and David Jonsson, and Ryan Gosling – who told the crowd this is a character he has wanted to play for a very long time. RDJ, staying cryptic about Doom, joked that “it isn’t easy being green.” And Ryan Reynolds skipped the stage entirely: he surfaced in the audience in the full Deadpool suit, asked questions like a regular attendee, and left the internet in flames. Somehow that is more Deadpool than any announcement.

Notably absent from the reported stage lineup: Chris Hemsworth. Draw your own conclusions – we already drew ours.

The theory scorecard: how did we do?

We published five Doomsday deep-dives this week. Time to grade them in public – no deleting our takes, that’s the deal.

• The Hydra Cap theory (is Steve Rogers a Hydra plant?) – Status: 🟡 STILL OPEN. New footage shows Steve fighting alongside the heroes, and Hayley Atwell’s presence points to a real Peggy storyline – which fits the recruited-from-retirement read more than the evil-variant one. No costume answer yet.
• Doom’s plan for Franklin Richards – Status: 🟡 STILL OPEN. No Franklin in the footage, but Sue humanizing Doom and Reed’s “Did you do this?” keep the family collision front and center.
• The surrender ending (do the Avengers lose on purpose?) – Status: 🟡 STILL OPEN. Doom commanding Sentinel armies is exactly the unbeatable-force framing this theory needs, but the panel gave no ending clues.
• Does Thor die? – Status: 🟡 STILL OPEN, and scarier. Thor and Doom now have on-screen blood feud dialogue, Doom caught Stormbreaker again, and Hemsworth skipped the stage. Our 40/60 is inching toward 50/50.
• The Loki questions – Status: 🟡 STILL OPEN. No Loki footage and no Hiddleston on stage, but Peggy Carter joining the story quietly strengthens the theory that Loki recruited Steve from that timeline.
• The Doom-Tony Stark face question – Status: ✅ WE CALLED IT. Marvel said nothing, exactly as we predicted – that reveal is being saved. Our deep-dive on the face question drops this week.

Grading our five pre-panel predictions

We locked five predictions before the panel. The receipts:

1. Extended footage in-hall, online within 48 hours – half right. The footage screened, but Marvel routed it into the Endgame Encore re-release instead of YouTube. Sneaky. ❌ on the online half.
2. Full cast walk-on including Evans – ✅ Confirmed. Evans, RDJ, Atwell and more.
3. A missing-hero tease – ✅ Overdelivered. We predicted a name-drop; we got Deadpool in the flesh.
4. No Doom-Tony answer – ✅ Confirmed. Saved for later, as predicted.
5. Secret Wars logo-and-date tease – ❌ Busted. Marvel skipped Secret Wars entirely. D23 gets that honor.

Final score: 3 of 5, with one half-credit. We accept applause and mockery in equal measure.

Everything else Marvel announced at SDCC 2026

Ghost Rider (2028): Ryan Gosling as the Spirit of Vengeance, Shawn Levy directing. The wildest casting swing since RDJ went green. Black Panther 3 (December 2028): Coogler back, shooting large-format on celluloid, and David Jonsson revealed as T’Challa’s son – the new Black Panther. Spider-Man: Brand New Day got real stage time, with Jon Bernthal on hand to talk up his role. The loud silences: no Secret Wars segment, no X-Men reboot update – even with X-Men characters all over the Doomsday footage. August’s D23 Expo is now the date to circle.

What happens next

The road from here is short and loud: Avengers: Endgame Encore on September 25 (with the hidden Doomsday footage – expect frame-by-frame breakdowns here the same weekend), then Avengers: Doomsday in theaters December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars a year behind on December 17, 2027.
